In 2009, Doc launched the Teacher Development Program. At the time, the small group of academic elite who run our schools laughed at him. According to them, teachers don't need individualized and personalized teacher training. The "one size fits all" approach to PD was in their words, "good enough for teachers."

Our current school system is run by a small group of academic elites, who think everyone that doesn't have a doctorate hanging on their wall is stupid. But are you really stupid? Leadership starts from the top. That means, when the people at the top think everyone underneath them is stupid, what do you think is going to happen? Therefore, the solution is to build a coalition of honest and hard working educators, who can begin to apply more pressure at the small group of academic elites who run everything.

Fixing a Broken System And

There are a few basic facts everyone knows and can agree on. The first fact is that too many people are struggling financially in America. The second fact is there is too much college loan debt that will never get paid off. And the third fact is wages are too low and have been for over a decade.

Even though everyone agrees on these facts, most people have no idea how to fix these societal problems.

People might have a theory or a suggestion, but no one has a definitive and proven solution. That's where "The School Doc" comes into the picture.

Millions of people in NJ were facing the same problems we just outlined. Too many people struggling financially, too much college loan debt and people being underpaid.

The so-called experts said the solution was to throw more money at the school system. Except that didn't work. The so-called experts said the problem was systemic and societal therefore teachers and schools were powerless. That didn't solve the problem either. In fact, it made it worse.

But "The School Doc" didn't listen to the experts or the critics of the K12 system. He has more than 20 years of experience inside the K12 system. He's an insider, not an outsider. And he knew what the real problems were, not the imaginary doom and gloom headlines.

That's why he was recognized as an expert in the field of education in 2017. His first groundbreaking program called "The Teacher Development Program" defied the statistics. Every expert in education said there was no way for a teacher to become an Master Teacher in less than five years.

But "The School Doc's" teacher program turned out expert teachers in only 2 years, not 5.

In 2011, "The School Doc" became one of the first Superintendents to implement a 21st century skills curriculum in his high school. The experts said marginalized, low income, urban and academically challenged students could not succeed.

But his students defied the odds. Not only did his students do better inside his K12 program, but they also graduated and were more successful in life.

And lastly, "The School Doc" created a Principal's Academy to help administrators stop running around their building trying to put out fires. The experts again said that administrators needed to be "tougher" on student discipline.

Thankfully the hundreds of administrators and schools that participated in "The School Doc's" Principal's Academy ignored that advice.

"We need to fix our K12 system so the next generation isn't being the 8-ball as soon as they graduate," said Schwartz. "But we also need to ramp up 21st century skills for every American that is in the workforce right now."
